Box spring

To make sure you can fully enjoy your new bed, it is important to follow the steps below for first use and maintenance.

First of all, attach the supplied legs and/or castors. Make sure you screw all the legs and/or castors on firmly. It is important that you also attach the legs in the middle of the box spring. After the first month, we recommend tightening the legs firmly once more. If you have purchased a double bed, it consists of two box springs that can be joined together with connectors. If you have received a headboard, you can attach it at the head end of the bed. Depending on the chosen model, you can attach the headboard to the bed or to the wall.

To extend the life of your box spring, it is important to maintain it properly. We recommend using a soft, damp cloth or a soft brush to clean the upholstered box spring. Do not use abrasives, bleach or other corrosive substances. In addition, use as little water as possible when cleaning your box spring.

We hope you will enjoy your new box spring and that, thanks to these tips, you can enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep for many years to come!

Mattresses

To make sure you can fully enjoy your new purchase, it is important to follow the tips below for first use and care.

Please bear in mind that mattresses always need some time to 'settle in'. At first, your mattress may therefore feel slightly firmer. Your body also needs some time to get used to a new mattress. We recommend turning and rotating the mattress at least once a quarter. This keeps the filling evenly distributed and the mattress wears more evenly. For protection and hygiene, always use a 100% cotton mattress protector and fitted sheet. It is also important to fold back your duvet every morning so that the mattress can air properly.

To keep your mattress clean, we recommend not using harsh substances when removing a stain and using as little water as possible. If possible, it is best to treat the stain with a special cleaning product suitable for your type of mattress. If you want to move the mattress, stand it on its side. Make sure you never fold the mattress in half, as this can damage the springs inside it.

We hope you will enjoy your new mattress and that, thanks to these tips, you can enjoy a good night's sleep for many years to come!

Featherbed/Fiberbed

If you have just bought a new Featherbed or Fiberbed, it is important to know that it may not yet have its proper shape at first. Let it air for four hours first, so that it can take on its intended shape. With use, it will adapt further to your body.

To keep your Featherbed/Fiberbed in good condition, regular care is important. Fold back your duvet every morning so that it can air. To retain volume and resilience, we recommend shaking up the Featherbed regularly. For a Comfort Featherbed this is best done twice a week, while once a week is sufficient for the Original Featherbed and the Prestige Featherbed. Also turn the Featherbed over every week, for example when you change the bed linen.

If you want to clean the Featherbed/Fiberbed, we recommend having it professionally cleaned once every four years with daily use. You can also wash it yourself at 40°C, but please note that the Featherbed will not fit in a regular washing machine.

Our ticking is made of cotton, which allows the Featherbed to breathe and lets air through. Despite the densely woven ticking, a small feather may occasionally poke through, especially with new Featherbeds. This is caused by the friction between the Featherbed and the mattress underneath. You can easily solve this by complementing the Featherbed with a protector or a mattress protector. This keeps your Featherbed in good condition, so you can enjoy a wonderful night's sleep.

Featherbed protector

A protector is a durable way to protect your Featherbed from dirt and dust. It is made of cotton, a material that may shrink slightly after the first few washes. That is why the protector is slightly larger than the stated size. The protector has been developed for the DOUXE Featherbeds and can be used in combination with, or instead of, a mattress protector.

When washing the protector, we recommend turning it inside out and closing the zip. You can wash the protector at 40°C (max. 60°C) and tumble dry it on a low temperature. By following these instructions, the protector keeps its quality and continues to protect your Featherbed effectively.

With a protector, you can enjoy your Featherbed for longer and you need to wash the Featherbed itself less often. This saves you time and effort and extends the life of your Featherbed.

Duvet

Most duvets are filled with down or synthetic fibres, which is why proper care is so important. When first used, the duvet may not yet have its proper shape, so you should let it air for a few hours first. To keep the duvet in good condition, we recommend folding it back every day so that it can air properly. It is also important to shake up the duvet and/or pillow lightly on a regular basis to retain its volume.

In addition, it is advisable to turn and rotate the duvet and/or pillow regularly. This ensures an even distribution of the filling and prevents certain parts of the duvet or pillow from wearing faster than others.

If you use your duvet every day, we recommend having it professionally cleaned once every four years. This is best done by your dry cleaner. Having your duvet cleaned regularly keeps it fresh and hygienic. It is important to follow the washing instructions for your duvet carefully to avoid damaging the filling.

Pillows

To protect your pillow and for hygiene reasons, we recommend using a pillow protector. This prevents your pillow from wearing prematurely and from getting stained. It is also advisable to wash your pillow once a year. You can wash the pillow yourself at a temperature of 40°C. Only use an alkali-free wool detergent and no fabric softener, to prevent damage. After washing, it is important to let the pillow dry thoroughly. This is best done in a tumble dryer with a few new tennis balls to plump up the pillow and loosen the fibres again. This way, your pillow keeps its shape and resilience. With these tips, you can enjoy a clean and fresh pillow for a long time.

Bed linen

The bed linen you have purchased is made of high-quality Egyptian cotton. Because cotton tends to shrink after the first wash, our bed linen is slightly larger than the stated size. We therefore advise you to wash the bed linen before using it for the first time.

When washing our bed linen, we recommend turning it inside out and washing it at 40°C (max. 60°C). Preferably use an alkali-free detergent and no fabric softener, as this can affect the quality of the material. When drying the bed linen, we recommend using a low temperature in a tumble dryer.

If you have white bed linen, you can occasionally wash it at 90°C to clean it thoroughly. If you choose our sateen quality, you generally do not need to iron the bed linen. Ironing can, however, help to make the linen softer. With our percale quality, it is important to wash the bed linen gradually (first at 30°C, then at 40°C and only then at 60°C). This quality is best ironed while it is still slightly damp.

To keep your bed linen beautiful for even longer, we recommend not washing it together with garments that have zips or buttons, as these can damage the material.

Towels

To preserve the lifespan and softness of your bath linen, it is important to care for it properly. We recommend washing your bath linen at a moderate temperature of 40°C (occasionally up to a maximum of 60°C). Please note that certain cleaning and cosmetic products may contain ingredients that cause bleaching. Therefore, use a liquid detergent and avoid fabric softeners. Wash your towels separately from other fabrics and garments to prevent discolouration and damage from zips and buttons.

It usually takes about three washes to fully remove the towels' new finish and improve their absorbency. Using the tumble dryer helps to retain the volume and softness of your towels. Dry the towels at a moderate temperature and make sure they are completely dry. This way, your towels stay soft and absorbent for longer.

Please note: carefully cut off any loose threads and do not pull them, to avoid damage.

Bath mats

Always wash the bath mat before using it for the first time. Then dry it in the tumble dryer so that it becomes wonderfully soft and fluffy, just like new. After a few washes, the bath mat reaches its maximum absorbency. For later washes, you can shake the bath mat out well or beat it outside to remove dust, dirt and hair. Wash the mat at 30–40°C; this is enough to remove dirt and bacteria without damaging the bath mat. To prevent damage from hard materials such as zips or buttons, it is best to wash the bath mat separately or together with towels.

Decorative pillows

Keep your decorative pillows in Manipur fabric in top condition by plumping them up regularly, treating stains immediately and avoiding exposure to direct sunlight. Store them in a dry place, air them occasionally and rotate them to encourage even wear, so you can enjoy their luxurious look for a long time.

Scented candles

When lighting the candle for the first time, let it burn long enough for the top layer to melt completely, limit the burning time to a maximum of 4 hours, avoid draughts for an even burn, prevent tunnelling by letting it burn long enough each time, and reuse the jar for other purposes to reduce waste.

Home fragrance

A luxurious addition to your personal ambience. Start with a subtle mist to avoid overpowering bursts of scent, and adjust to your liking. Place it strategically in spots with natural airflow, as in a refined hotel lobby, and treat your senses to seasonal scent variations for a continuously fresh and enchanting atmosphere.
